What's in a Name?

Abby and I have searched high and low for the perfect name for our little girl. Do we give her a name with great meaning? historical significance? family tradition? In 9 short months she has been named: Jack, Micheal, Heath, Quinn, Colleen, Cathrine and now...Kallyn. Kallyn...you might ask, what does that mean? Where did that come from? Good question and here is the grand story of Kallyn.

Abby and I were sitting in our overstuffed chair one evening looking through a baby book of names I picked up. I would say, "Abby how about ----?" Abby would say, "Um, no." She would say, Erin, how about ----?" and I would say, "Um, no.". Until we came upon the name Callen. We both stopped and didn't say no. We read a little more...

Callen: Gaelic origin meaning Powerful in battle. Well, that sounds like our little girl! But, we weren't sold on the idea yet...and we wanted it to have more personality and orginality...hence the name Kallyn. What does it mean if you look it up in some baby book? Nothing. What does her name mean to us? It means, The world
